BOARD NOTES

Our committees are busy on our behalf. Juliana has offered to be on the Publicity Committee and work on the web site. Peter has shown her the ropes. Jill and Amanda have been sending out lots of press releases, etc, so look for all the new publicity that will be happening now. The Membership Committee is working hard with new members and Victoria is now the chair with help from Elizabeth. The Adult Education Committee has held two successful events and are working on others in the New Year, so watch for them. Lynda has offered to chair the Children’s RE so a meeting will be set up with Parents and Sam in the New Year. Our security policies are in place and are working well. And the Constitution and By-laws have been completed and are ready to be sent to the Society’s Act office. We need to have a committee to work on policies and procedures and another to begin new work on the Constitution and By-laws. Once we have policies and procedures in place it will be easier to work on the by-laws and we have to remember it has taken almost eight years to get where we are so this is not an easy or immediate work. If you are interested in this work please contact Shurly or Alan.

We are still investigating Liability Insurance but are close to making a commitment. The Lap Quilts have been sold. We are receiving Street Newz so check it out, it is an informative little paper.

On our wish list for Sharing Our Faith, an organization to which we contribute, there could be help with the cost of our intern minister.

A new policy for reducing paper is to send as much information as possible to those who have e-mail. Others will still receive the information by phone or slow mail.

We are looking into rental possibilities if New Horizons is closed while a new building is built.

Our next meeting will be the third Tuesday in January, 4-6 pm, at JBNH, all are welcome. Wishing all of you the very best for Christmas and the New Year. Shurly, Chair.

CUC Board Highlights

At the Boards annual retreat and meeting the Appreciative Inquiry method was used (as was done in Nanaimo) to find a common vision.
A Symposium Committee was formed to have congregational leaders jointly explore new ways to be UU’s in todays world. These will cooperate with four other task forces: Sharing Our Principles, Endowment Campaign, Social Responsibility task force and the Shared Ministry task force.
