During this 100th anniversary of World War I, we can take a lesson from the Christmas Eve moment of Peace of 1914. \u00a0A profound moment that was started by the German soldiers, embraced by the Allied soldiers, and\u00a0forbidden by the horrified Generals of both sides. \u00a0Although I personally mark\u00a0November 11th, I am uncomfortable with the usual Remembrance Day service and the glorification still of military might. \u00a0At the same time, I am grateful for those who went to fight for our country, and so sorrowful for the loss of life on all sides, for their families. \u00a0and for those maimed physically and mentally either as combatants or as victims of war. \u00a0Peace is a hard word, a hard concept but still worth our conviction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
