One of our popular songs has these words: \u201cRoots hold me close; wings set me free. Spirit of life, come to me, come to me.\u201d These lines are a window into one of the Unitarian faith’s most radical theological assertions: Divinity and spirit are encountered not through blind faith but through remaining rooted in our deepest and most unique selves. For Unitarians, the religious search has more to do with the hunger for authenticity than for redemption.
