She hopes to stimulate\nthoughts about belonging to a community, whether it is religious or spiritual,\nor neither of those.&nbsp; She will link it to&nbsp;personal experience with\nbeing part of a faith-based institution, in her case, Unitarianism, and expand\nthrough examples to the greater whole in Canada, the Canadian Unitarian\nCouncil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bio<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Karen\nChristie has been a member of Capital in Victoria for\nthe past 2.5 years, having moved from Ottawa where she was a member of the UU\nFellowship there for 20 years.&nbsp; Before retiring in 2016, Karen had been\nworking for Global Affairs Canada for 12+ years.&nbsp; This provided her with\nthe opportunities to serve at Canada&#8217;s embassies in Haiti and\nAfghanistan.&nbsp; Independently her other overseas experiences included\nworking on elections in the former Yugoslavia, and as a teacher in Ethiopia,\nAustralia and the Yukon.&nbsp; Karen is currently striving to belong in\nVictoria through singing and dancing, plus outdoor pursuits such as walking,\ncycling, swimming and kayaking!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Karen will address the topic of belonging, which has countless perspectives.&nbsp;
