March 11th – IN VICTORIA – Off-Island Service

We have been invited to a special service at the First Unitarian Church of Victoria – they have even changed their service start time to accommodate our travel time!

Saving Time in a Bottle – Rev. Melora Lyngood

On this day when we set our clocks forward an hour, we examine the concept of time. Some gurus of spiritual enlightenment advise us to live in the present moment, for it is the only moment that is really real. Those of us who like to plan, wonder if it isn’t wise to spend at least some time planning for the future. And what about the past? Isn’t there value in honouring, preserving, learning about and from the past? Past, present, and future—how do we find our balance as we walk through time?

Please e-mail ssucoordinator (at) gmail.com for carpooling information. We’ll be catching the 9:50am ferry from Fulford Harbour.

The First Unitarian Church of Victoria is located at:
5575 West Saanich Road
Victoria, B.C.
V9E 2G1

Service begins at 11:30am.

There will also be a special presentation after the service:

Green Burial and Alternatives
Sunday, March 11, after church
Green Burial and Alternatives is a presentation and discussion led by Stephen Olson, Execu-tive Director of Royal Oak Burial Park. He will deal with the history, philosophy and details of a green burial comparing it to alternative methods. Green Burial can be considered both the oldest and newest form of burial. At present, Royal Oak Burial Park is one of the only two natural burial sites in Canada which means that, unlike most Canadians, we have this additional choice. The seminar will give us information about environmental impact, cost, and personal preferences that will help us as we make our end-of- life plans. For more information, contact Rev. Melora or Margot Lods.
